Maintenance Mistakes That Could Cost You Thousands

Maintenance Mistakes That Could Cost You Thousands!

If you’ve only just bought a brand-spanking new car for the first time, and you’ve been used to owning clunking, used pieces of junk for a while, then you may be starting to realize you took your old cars for granted. While your last beaten-up little runner may have been able to take a lot of punishment, I’m sure you want to treat your shiny new model a little better. To keep it in the best condition possible, make sure you avoid the following maintenance mistakes…

Using a Cheap Mechanic

We all like to save money, and this applies when it comes to car maintenance just as it does with anything in life. If you find yourself in a position where something expensive needs to be fixed or replaced, then naturally you may be tempted to take your car to a discount auto shop. Don’t give into that temptation! It may not be brain surgery, but auto repair is a complex skill that requires the touch of a trained and experienced professional. By shopping around and choosing the cheapest mechanic you can find, you’re asking to run into problems later.

“This year, the expansion of our business as an auto and mobility company moves into even higher gear,” said Mark Fields, president and CEO. “We’re introducing even more new vehicles and technologies to make life better for millions of people in the near term, plus we’re presenting a vision and partnering with cities to move more people even more efficiently in the future.”

What Regular Maintenance Is Required For Vehicles

What Regular Maintenance is Required for Vehicles?

Ensuring your vehicle receives the regular maintenance required will improve the longevity of your car’s lifespan. Without this maintenance, your car will give out on you. Things will start to go wrong and the cost to fix these issues will be much higher than if you had kept up with it earlier.

One of the most important tips for vehicle owners is to not slack on preventative maintenance. Check out your owner’s manual. Inside, it will have a lot of auto repair information on your specific vehicle. Some of the maintenance you can learn to do yourself, other things you may need help from the professionals.

PERFORM A YEARLY, THOROUGH INSPECTION

Generally, this is something you can do yourself with little experience. It is best to do this at least once a year. The goal is to check for things that may be going wrong. Make sure all of the lights are working, front and rear. Check the air pressure in your tires.

Even if your vehicle comes with a digital reading of pressure, manually check to make sure it is correct. Good tire pressure can give you better gas mileage. Listen for strange sounds coming from your vehicle. Look at the tread on your tires to make sure you aren’t need a new set yet.

CHECK THE FLUID LEVELS

There are multiple fluids needed to keep your vehicle running efficiently. You don’t have to learn how to change your own oil or antifreeze, but you should understand how to check to see if it needs more. Most containers have a dipstick or a level to use to check. If you have low levels, you may need to just add more.

3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Rely On Your Phone Everything In The Car

3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Rely on Your Phone for Everything in the Car

Phones are wonderful inventions—especially for drivers. There was once a time where we carried maps in the back of our cars to prevent us from getting lost and to find our destination. That was replaced by GPS devices, and then eventually those were replaced by phones. We used to carry MP3 players or a variety of CDs to play music in our car. Not any more thanks to our phones. We can just plug our mobile devices into our cars with a variety of different cables and jacks and play music.

However, we shouldn’t be using our phones for everything in the car. Although it’s convenient to replace all of those extra devices with just a single phone, there are many advantages to sticking to tradition and using older GPS devices or even old MP3 players. To give you an idea why, here are five reasons why you shouldn’t be relying on your phone for every in your car.

PHONE GPS REQUIRES AN INTERNET CONNECTION

While phone GPS is handy in city environments, it just isn’t reliable in an area with bad connectivity. Slow map updates could make you stop your car more often than you want to, and the accuracy isn’t comparable to a dedicated GPS device. GPS devices also won’t distract you like a phone does and they’re extremely easy to use compared to a phone which can be slow or even crash if you’re unlucky. They usually have very good speakers too that are designed to output clear sound over rumbling engine noises and traffic noise.
